Obituary of Mona Lee Bogan

Mona Lee Bogan, of Pine Bush, NY, formerly of Woodbourne, NY, passed away on February 6, 2024 after a long illness. She was 68.
She was the daughter of the late Henry (Hank) and Lillian (Pat,nee Hendrickson) Bogan, born on February 16, 1955 in Monticello, NY.
Mona was a 1973 graduate of the Fallsburg Central School District. She went on to study at Russell Sage College, where she received her BA in Math, Secondary Education, and English. She returned to teach at Fallsburg in1977. During her 35 years at the school, Mona taught both math and English, and spent time as principal, AP, and Dean of Students, before retiring in 2012. While teaching, Mona received both her Master’s Degree and Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration and Supervision from SUNY New Paltz. After her retirement, Mona continued in the education field by tutoring many students in the tri-county area, helping them to pass their Regents exams and SATs. She was a very active and dedicated member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Women Educators International Organization, where she was Treasurer for the local Tau Chapter and a member/chair of the State Finance Committee. Mona also got her Real Estate license in 2013.
She leaves behind her cousin Judi (Dave) Evans and her family of Minnesota; Bill (Liz) Hendrickson and family of California; Gary Hendrickson of Florida; Robert Devore and family of Grahamsville, and numerous friends who loved baseball as much as she did. She was a die-hard Yankees fan!
A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until noon on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Parsonage Road, Woodbourne, NY 12788.
